BVRA Rules & Policies

ADA Compliance

The Buffalo Valley Recreation Authority complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability. The Recreation Authority will make reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities who meet essential eligibility requirements for the desired program. Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to contact BVRA regarding special accommodations needed for enjoyment of programs

“Resident” Status for Purposes of Fees For Activities & Events

The Buffalo Valley Recreation Authority, under the auspices of local municipalities, is authorized to serve our community with varied and affordable recreation, activities, classes, and events. As an authority of these municipalities we are subject to standard reporting practices regarding our members’ residency status in regards to allocation of municipal resources. This information is also key to us understanding who our community is and how we can better serve you.

If you reside in East Buffalo Township or Lewisburg Borough, you qualify as a “resident” and receive the discounted price on our rate scale. If you reside elsewhere you are very much needed to support our Authority and your residency information will enable us to report to areas who don’t at present support us in the hope that they will be willing to provide funding to us in the future. Additional municipal funding will enable us to give our resident discount to more of our community.

Code of Conduct & Participant Guidelines

Equal Access & Non-Discrimination Policy

Behavior

Participants are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. The following guidelines have been developed to make BVRA programs safe and enjoyable for all participants. Additional rules may be developed for particular programs and athletic leagues as deemed necessary by staff. Participants shall:

  • Show respect to all participants and staff
  • Refrain from using foul language
  • Refrain from causing bodily harm to other participants or staff
  • Show respect for equipment, supplies and facilities.
Discipline

A positive approach will be used at all times by BVRA staff. The Recreation Authority reserves the right to dismiss a participant from any program. Each situation will be evaluated on its own merit.

Inclement Weather

In the event of winter and/or inclement weather, BVRA programs, activities, and events will cancelled, postponed, and/or dismissed early in accordance with the Lewisburg Area School District school closings, delays, and early dismissals due to winter and inclement weather.

Cancellation, Refund, & Prorating Policy

  • Participants will receive a full refund when the program is cancelled due to lack of participants, facilities or qualified instruction.
  • No refunds will be given once the program has started.
  • Any person who registers for an activity and who requests a refund 7 days or more before its start, may receive a refund minus a service charge.
  • All refunds due to customer cancellation are subject to a $10 service charge, even if the refund remains as a household credit. No refunds are given for programs costing less than $10.
  • Refunds for medical reasons must be accompanied by a physician’s note and shall be considered on a case by case basis. In instances where a refund will be issued the refund total shall take into account any days of activity already attended.

  • There will be no prorating of partial sessions, partial classes, or partial activities. • Any refund may be retained as a household credit; however, the account guardian can call the BVRA Office to obtain a refund via credit card or check.
  • The issuance of a refund check will take 14-30 working days and will be mailed to the participant.
