Nature School Fall 2017

Enrollment is now full for NATURE SCHOOL FALL 2017 SEMESTER. Please call BVRA at (570) 524-4774 to be added to the wait list.

Nature School is BVRA’s nature-based preschool. Inspired by Montessori, Waldorf and Reggio-Emilia educational philosophies, this nature-based curriculum focuses on a variety of themes that reflect children’s discoveries in both indoor and outdoor classrooms. Outdoor exploration in all types of weather is an integral part of each day. Nature inspires the curriculum and focuses on themes that mimic the changing of seasons.

The Nature School preschool day is designed to create a balance between free creative play and more structured activities that help develop a child’s ability to work independently and cooperatively and to act in a caring and responsible way towards the environment, themselves and others. We engage in domestic, practical and artistic activities that the children readily imitate (baking, painting, gardening, etc.) and allow ample time for outdoor exploration in the Children’s Play Garden (BVRA’s outdoor classroom). Woven into these experiences are hands-on games and experiences that well-prepare children to enter the next phase of school life. Motivated by their own curiosity, children may choose from many thoughtfully prepared hands-on learning materials that foster the development of gross and fine motor skills, reasoning, math, and pre-reading or reading skills, as the child is ready. Our mission is to provide a high quality childhood experience that meets the developmental needs of the whole child (artistic, social, emotional, physical, cognitive) while inspiring them to connect with nature.

Conversational, hands-on and interactive Spanish with Rachel Sussman is incorporated into Nature School three days each week.

Also, check out our after school Nature Club for K-2 on Thursdays.

Classes will take place in the Warming House, the Children's Play Garden and throughout Lewisburg Park's more "wild" areas (not the playgrounds); rain, snow or shine. Children must be potty proficient AND 3 years old, and parents will need to provide outdoor clothing for all types of weather.

Nature's Cool has a rolling admission, so if you would like to sign your child up past the start date just contact the office and we will pro-rate your registration.
