Summer Camp Counselor

Job description:
You’ve been cooped up for months sitting in a classroom or office. This is the perfect job to get you outside in the summer sun and fresh air! Come join our fun team!
A Summer Camp Counselor will supervise, lead, and engage children (grades K-6) throughout predetermined and spontaneous activities. You will be responsible for instructing, facilitating, and ensuring all children are able to successfully participate in activities. This includes the creation and implementation of new or previously created activities as needed throughout the summer. Counselors will also ensure children’s safety, well-being, and enjoyment.
Duties:
 -Remain actively engaged with children
 -Coordinate children, materials, and resources for activities
 -Facilitate activities
 -Address situations as they arise appropriately
 -Communicate with parents
 -Report all relevant happenings promptly to the Camp Director and to other counselors
 -Handle varying situations appropriately
- Participate in required training and weekly meetings
 -Work in camp counselor teams
Basic Requirements of Position:
 -Must be at least 16 years old
 -Must obtain and pass all required clearances
 -Work outdoors in all types and varying weather conditions
 -Able to stand, walk, or sit for periods of time
 -Prior or ability to earn basic First Aid & CPR/AED certification (BVRA plans to offer this during the camp orientation session)
 -Perform other duties as assigned related to Summer Camp
Preferred Skills/Background:
 -Previous camp counselor experience preferred, but not required
 -Previous experience with children preferred
- Background experience in recreation a plus
- Attention to detail
 -Patient and with good temperament
 -Conflict management
 -Effective verbal and written communication
 -Curriculum planning a plus

Weekly Hours and Duration:
Summer Camp will begin June 6th and continue for ten weeks concluding August 12.
A mandatory training will be required prior to the start of camp (May 31 – June 4, 2021). This training will include an orientation, preparation for camps, and a 4 hours of basic First Aid/CPR/AED training for non-certified staff. Hours per week will vary Monday – Friday, but will not exceed 30 – 40 total for a week (Counselor shifts
occur between 8:00 am- 5:30 pm). At time of hire, Counselors will have option to choose either a 25, 32 or 40 hour week, and a set schedule.
Interviews will be ongoing through mid-May
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Pay: $10.00 – $10.50 per hour, depending upon experience

Lewisburg Community Pool Lifeguard

Job description:
You’ve been cooped up for months sitting in a classroom or office. This is the perfect job to get you outside in the summer sun and fresh air! Come join our fun team!
This position is responsible for maintaining order at the pool facility through the enforcement of policies and rules governing the conduct of patrons. Lifeguards are also responsible for monitoring the pool facilities for potential hazards or unsafe conditions, providing first aid to patrons, custodial duties in maintaining the pool facilities, public relations, and all other duties as necessary or required. He or she must have the communication and interpersonal skills to courteously and firmly interact with pool patrons and foster a sense of trust and authority. This position requires weekend and Holiday work. Applicants must be 16 years or older.
Prior lifeguard certification is not required, but applicants must be able to pass lifeguard certification class before beginning employment. This includes a prerequisite swim test where applicants must demonstrate skills such as swimming 300 yards continuously, treading water, and picking up and transporting an object from the bottom of the pool. BVRA WILL OFFER THIS CLASS PRIOR TO THE MEMORIAL DAY OPENING. Lifeguards with WSI certification may also teach swim lessons and increase earning potential.
Essential Duties:
• Required attendance to pool staff orientation in late May
• Attendance at Staff in-services, training sessions, and staff meetings
• Must be available both weekdays and weekends
• Preference will be given to applicants available for entire length of pool season.

Qualifications:
• Responsible, Dependable, Level-Headed, Flexible, and Calm in all situations
• Ability to stand or sit for prolonged amount of time
• Position may require lifting of children or adults for rescue
• The ability to see, hear, and communicate are integral for this position and manual dexterity is needed to perform day to day operations
• Exposure to sun, heat, and various weather conditions

The Lewisburg pool is open 7 days a week from Memorial Day through the end of August 29th, 2021. The hours will be limited to evenings and weekends starting on the 22th of August due to school being in session.
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Pay: $10.00 – $11.00 per hour (Based upon experience)
